Code of Conduct

All players and staff of Concord Olympus must adhere to a code of conduct that informs safe and consensual play. We request that you read through these principles before you enter play. Anyone found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct risks immediate expulsion from the game without a refund.

Players are Entitled to...

  1. Enjoy a safe and consensual game environment

  2. Expect transparency from staff in communicating decisions and policies related to the game

  3. Provide feedback regarding all aspects of the game and its community, and have that feedback fairly considered by staff

  4. Respectful discourse on all aspects of the game, setting, and community

  5. Cordial treatment by all members of the game community, players and staff alike

  6. Assume good intent when interacting with staff and other players, particularly regarding disagreements

Players are Not Entitled to...

  1. “Win.” Not every character action will be a viable solution, and some scenarios may be intentionally weighted toward failure for increased dramatic potential

  2. Have their feedback implemented in every case; staff may disagree with conclusions provided by players, particularly if they feel it will not be beneficial to the game or community as a whole

  3. Abuse, harass, shame, or otherwise mistreat any staff or player. Our community is built upon mutual respect and safety, and abusive behavior will be moderated with prejudice

  4. Forgiveness. Violations of the Code of Conduct will be considered and punished appropriately. Immunity should not be expected due to temporary emotional distress, confusion, lack of mechanical knowledge, or any other extenuating circumstance

  5. An instantaneous response. Staff must be given time to develop a response to players’ choices and actions, both in and out of play

  6. Precedent. Staff decisions are not categorically binding and can be revisited in the future

Unethical Behavior

Staff extends a high level of trust toward our players and expects the same level of trust from players toward staff members. The following categories of behavior realistically cover anything that damages the out of play trust and goodwill that we wish to cultivate as part of our game.

Disrespect

Any and all forms of harassment on site or within official game online discussions will be considered a violation of the Code of Conduct. This includes a ban on comments and actions that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise hateful. This rule also extends to the on-site carrying of items and symbols that promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual, gender, or religious intolerance, or promote organizations with such views. This list is not exhaustive, but includes Nazi, white supremacist, and Confederate memorabilia. Players espousing such beliefs or in possession of such items will be ejected from the game immediately.

Unwanted Physical Contact

We expect our players to be reasonable and responsible when engaging in physical contact with other players. By default, it is assumed that everyone is okay with simple, socially-acceptable forms of physical contact like shaking hands or tapping someone on the shoulder. If this is something a player is uncomfortable with, they should inform their fellow players in a polite manner. Respect personal boundaries and, if you are uncertain whether a player is comfortable with physical contact, please ask. Under no circumstances should anyone engage in any physical contact beyond what is described above without the express permission of all players involved.

Poor Sportsmanship

Concord Olympus is a consent-based game. Participants should consider how their actions will affect other players, and make an effort to come to a consensual resolution if there is any disagreement. Yelling at other participants, or using out of play activity to abuse characters in-play both fall into this category. Repeated instances of this sort of behavior will result in expulsion from the game.

Substance Policy

Players may indulge in legal substances such as alcohol, marijuana or tobacco during the course of the game, as long as their judgment does not become impaired. If a player is determined to be too intoxicated to continue playing safely, they will be removed from play until they are sober enough to participate. It should go without saying, but please do not use illegal substances while participating.
